Flying Officer William Gerald Phelan DFC – Photos of 425 Alouette Squadron

Flying Officer William Gerald Phelan DFC

There is something special about that photo. It’s part of Réal St-Amour’s collection shared by his daughter Chantal. She had scanned all of her father’s album.

All the photos were scanned at a very high settings. When Chantal sent them, I did not recognize William Phelan on one of them.

These next photos were taken during the same time period when William Gerald Phelan was an Alouette.

This one shows 420 Squadron Handley Page Halifaxes. Both squadrons were sharing the same airbase at Tholthorpe.

This P.R. photo was taken around July 14, 1944.

This is pilot Landry.

This is pilot Philbin.

He is seen with Joe Lecomte and an unknown pilot

Here an erk (ground crew) is posing for posterity on the nose of Old Bill.

Padre Maurice Laplante was the Alouettes’ chaplain.

Most airmen in Réal St-Amour’s album have been identified.

Wing Commander Lecomte.
